This policy explains what information Okcupid collects when you browse the site or hold a conversation with a companion, why it is collected, and how long it stays.
Information you give us
Messages you write during a session, and anything you send through the contact form. If you write to us by email we keep the thread so we can follow up properly.
Information collected automatically
Standard access information such as page requested, approximate region, browser type and timestamp. This is used for security and for understanding which pages are worth improving.
Why we process it
- To keep your conversations coherent from one session to the next.
- To protect the service against abuse and automated misuse.
- To answer messages you send us.
Retention
Conversation content is retained only as long as it serves session continuity. Contact correspondence is kept for up to twenty-four months. Access records are kept for a short rolling window.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. Processing partners that host the service or deliver email act on documented instructions and may not use the data for their own purposes.
Your choices
You may ask what is held about you, request a correction, or request deletion. Write to hello@okcupidlive.com and we will respond within thirty days.
Cookies
Okcupid uses only the cookies needed to keep a session working and to remember basic preferences. No advertising cookies are set.
Children
Okcupid is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the revised version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
